Air Management and System Pressurization

Air in hydronic systems can cause many problems, including corrosion, noise, reduced pumping capacity, and air bound coils. In this seminar, we'll review these problems, and discuss how to resolve them.

Primary Secondary Systems

In this seminar, we'll review correct primary-secondary piping, the purpose of the common pipe, and the reasons this system is so commonly used. To gain a better understanding of how a primary/secondary system operates, we'll look at the operation of an example in detail, examining chiller loads, chiller staging, flows, and temperatures.

Variable Primary Chilled Water Systems

The advantages being promoted for these designs include lower first costs, lower pump operating costs, and the ability to cope with "low delta-T syndrome". In this seminar, we'll review how variable-primary systems work, and discuss piping and controls options.

Waterside Economizers and ASHRAE 90.1

Calculate the required system flow and pressure for an example system. We will also look at how to select a pressure booster along with sizing the hydropneumatic tank.

Hot Water Recirculation

Examine how to design and size a hot water recirculation system. We will also discuss recirculation balance and strategies for recirculate in high pressure applications.

Sump and Sewage Lift Stations

Review air and oil filled motor designs, submersible pump types and applications .  We will also look at an exampe and use fixture unit count to determine pump capacity, sump and control design.
